"New ways of thinking...

This program helped me to gain a completely new perspective on stress, and it has allowed me to take on new challenges without feeling overwhelmed in my training. Dr. Ahuja is fantastic, and she was able to form a community of medical students & residents that cared about helping each other grow. The training modules are very helpful in grasping key leadership and stress management concepts, and demonstrating how these may be applied in our day-to-day lives. Thank you, Dr. Ahuja!"

"A blueprint for lifelong growth...

Dr. Ahuja's Docs in Leadership Emerging Leaders Program fills a gap that is poorly addressed in medical education. My clinical and surgical training thus far has helped me to recognize the importance of stress management, emotional regulation, and team building, which is the focus of this program. DiL Emerging Leaders Program helps learners to develop a methodical and reflective way to approach common, yet difficult situations in medicine with a growth mindset. It has been invaluable to build a community with fellow learners under the coaching and mentorship of Dr. Ahuja. I will continue to use and build on the skills I gained from this program throughout my career, and I truly believe it will make me a more competent and professional physician. I would recommend this program to medical learners of all levels."

"Exceeded my expectations...

This program has been a fantastic learning platform that has supplemented my medical education. The program has exceeded my expectations. The learning modules struck a fine balance of providing enough relevant detail with being concise and captivating. Additionally, the group sessions have allowed for further exploration into pertinent topics and different perspectives to help solidify the take-home messages. I think this course is a great opportunity to help training physicians develop a growth mindset and learn skills to facilitate making the most out of daily situations."

"Comfortable with the unexpected...

Like many of my peers, I was quite nervous about transitioning from pre-clerkship to clerkship. The switch from largely didactic learning to clinical work seemed daunting both on a personal and professional level. Before starting this program I felt that what rendered me most nervous was not being able to really pinpoint what exactly was causing me to feel this way.

This program has helped me in numerous ways. Firstly, modules outlining what to expect in medical school and residency followed by strategies for stress and conflict management provided me with the context needed to truly reflect on my perceived strengths and weaknesses. Reflections emerging from completing the clarity worksheets and participating in insightful group coaching sessions allowed me to focus on what was holding me back from feeling confident in clinical and/or leadership situations, and even holding me back from pursuing various extracurricular opportunities. Secondly, the community created through this program is certainly a major highlight. It was reassuring and validating to hear that other peers are going through the same things as me. I also greatly appreciated their input on the issues discussed. Overall, I sincerely believe that the program has improved my confidence as a leader and honed my emotional intelligence - to name a couple of the many benefits of the program. I certainly recommend it!"

"Leadership skills and more...

As future healthcare practitioners, taking on leadership roles is an essential part of the job. Through this program, I was able to learn about successful leadership styles and how to work effectively within a team. More importantly, I have been able to build upon my communication and interpersonal skills in order to develop successful leadership strategies."

"A breakthrough program...

Before I started this program, I looked for a mentor to guide me through the rigorous lifestyle of medical school. Dr. Ahuja's program was just what I needed. This program has helped me develop skills such as conflict resolution and a framework for success. The ADMIT framework is a great tool to reach your professional goals step-by-step. Not to mention, it is gratifying to meet other medical students and residents across Canada and learn from their experiences and insights."

"Essential skills for career and personal life...

Through this program, I honed essential skills applicable to a variety of situations (patient care, interprofessional interactions, academics, extracurriculars, personal life). The didactic modules helped me gain new strategies to become a better leader, whether it is by applying the ADMIT framework, contextualizing emotional intelligence or increasing self-awareness. Additionally, I discovered an incredible community of trainees through Docs in Leadership (DiL). Program assets also include the flexibility, the schedule and the online availability of DiL."

"A practical program that inspires...

Before I started this program, I felt like I had some insights into the practice of emotionally intelligent leadership but it remained an area of curiosity for me. This program has helped me by providing a practical understanding of leadership with both individual and group exercises, concretizing the principles of emotionally intelligent leadership. I look forward to continuing to apply these principles in my personal and professional life moving forward!"

"Creating a foundation to be an effective leader through self-reflection and thoughtful conversation with other medical trainees on a similar journey...

Docs in Leadership is a unique opportunity where you get to learn about and have meaningful discussions on stress management strategies, ways to grow as a leader, and practice utilizing a framework that can be adapted to any challenge you face professionally or personally. What I appreciated the most from this program was the guided discussions with Dr. Ahuja and the other medical trainees - I always left feeling inspired, that I had learned something new from other’s experiences, and had a few good laughs along the way."

"Very grateful for this experience...

Before starting this program, I felt very uncertain about leadership development within medicine and healthcare. I was not sure how a medical student such as myself could become a better leader within my environment. The DiL program has enabled me to reflect on very key topics within leadership and health care. During the bi-weekly discussions, Dr. Ahuja brings up many topics ranging from conflict resolution to mindfulness. I highly recommend this program for those who are eager to develop their sense of leadership and who strive to be the best version of themselves."

"Filling a gap in medical education...

Although medical school provides students with extensive training on medical content and how to be an excellent clinician, it lacks the foundations of teaching students how to navigate medicine as a young leader. This program has bridged this knowledge gap for me by providing with me the skills to empower myself as a leader. The program has provided me with the unique ability to approach daily challenges and encourage self-reflection. Overall, this has greatly built my emotional intelligence, giving me the tools to become a physician who is better able to serve my patients and the community."
